I think I’m really lucky because I love my work. That is why I always say that my hobby is my work too. When I embark on a task, I almost get obsessed to it. I feel really close to nature, flowers and animals as well.
From Coal to Blooms
What do you think about the connection of flowers and coal . What kind of flowers would you combine with the coal?
Both of them have to “work” a lot for one to get a great outcome. I have a story about that. A long time ago, at the Young Florists’ Competition, I made a basic hand-tied bouquet. The basis of the bouquet was vine shoots. I just burned them until they formed charcoal and then just lacquered them. It was a very, very good base, incidentally! I just used it for flowers. The bouquet was perfect but one of the jurists went mad about the charcoal base and gave me minus points. Now it’s funny, but at that time it was sad.
For the longest time, I used black just for background colour, and used it with many bright colours in my works.
