Assignments Interflora World Cup - Gil Boyard, France
At the second day the designers have to make two assignments. The first is a table arrangement, named 'Green Tea for Two'. On a round table they have to create their masterpiece in two hours time, taking into account that the maximum height is two meters. The second preliminary event is a bridal bouquet with no size restrictions, but obviously the 'Oriental Pearl Bride' must still be able to carry the designers creation.
Green Tea for Two
I got the idea of my table when I travelled to Reunion Island, climbing the volcano I was thrilled by a landscape of bushes with white/grey roots and shiny green.

I would be pleased to have Muriel le Couls at my table, she is a very gifted florist. She wrote the book 'Structures' with me and she offered me precious help for my preperation and she can't come to Shanghai!

Oriental Pearl
For me, pearl is precious, natural, simple and considerably uncomplicated. I chose to work this bouquet in the shining colours that pearls can reflect. The bouquet is a nest where its uniqueness is clearly displayed.

I found a new technique from one of my assistants named Clement in order to make the structure translucent and precious. We started off with very simple materials.
Gil: "My choice of materials was driven mostly by the size of the flowers. This is a jewelry bouquet, hence I chose light, milky and sparkly colours."
