Assignments Interflora World Cup - Ni Zhi Xiang, China
The first event, Designers Choice is themed "Flowers on the Orient". Contestants will complete a design up to 1.2 metres deep and wide and 2.25 metres high within 2 hours.
On the same day they will have their artistic flair tested again with a "Surprise Item" which they will complete in just over an hour. This is an exciting test of how spontaneous these designers from around the world can be with only 15 minutes to view the various items presented to them and create something amazing.
Assignment 1: Flowers on the Orient
Flowers on the Orient:
The snow-covered roof of the world, the oriental manliness.
The free-flying butterflies of the flowers, the oriental womanliness.
Manliness and womanliness compose the oriental verse.
It with the pine which is beckoning shows hospitable kindness.
The friendship of Flowers on th Orient is waiting for you from far away places.
I like to work with typical flowers of the orient. In my creation I used the pine tree to show the hospitality of the people of the orient. The pine tree is a Chinese way of saying 'Welcome!'
I am an outgoing person and the structure of this work is similar to my personality. I welcome foreign people. Hospitality is the similarity between the arrangement and my personality.
The structure symbolizes mountains and clouds and the outer-side of the structure are the wings of the crane bird. The way the wings move symbolizes the way people open their arms to welcome people from other parts of the world.
Assignment 2: Surprise item, Shanghai Tang
Create within the time allowed an in store display for the famous Shanghai Tang Clothing and Accessories Store. Your design should reflect the vibrancy and contemporary ambience of this retail outlet. You do not have to use all of the materials provided, you may decide not to use some of the items at all.
