Thousands of volunteers came together at the outdoor parking area of Dubai Festival City to create a huge bed of flowers to mark the Year of Tolerance. This also served as a record-breaking attempt and most importantly had seven colours of flowers representing the seven emirates.
The flowers were laid out over a space covering 9,290 square metres (100,000 square feet) – thousands of volunteers representing more than 150 nationalities helped place the flowers into patterns that were traced on the floor beforehand. It is yet to be announced if the carpet of flowers succeeded in breaking the Guinness World Record.
