Successful Inaugural Open Day at De Ruiter's Thika Showcase

Growers from various rose growing regions across Kenya converged at DeRuiter East Africa's new showcase in Thika where the breeder was hosting their first open house at the new trial house. The showcase is housed within the confines of Penta Flowers, a 60ha rose farm with vast experience in growing and marketing of a wide range of export quality roses.  

The showcase sits at 1600m asl and is a good avenue for rose growers to sample growth and trade characteristics of the various rose varieties and determine what would work best at their respective farms. These roses include new and commercial varieties as well as an extensive selection of 2019 novelties. The Thika open day held on 31st July came a day after the breeder held similar open days 29th - 30th at their showhouse located at PJ Dave's Rising Sun farm in Timau. 

Feedback from rose growers in attendance indicated a rousing approval of the showcase with a good number of them requesting budwood for conducting trials at their respective farms.
