Interplant conducts end-selection for their Spray Rose novelties

With an existence spanning just over half a century, Interplant is ranked among the leading breeders of roses in the world. The family owned company was established in 1962, and boasts a remarkable portfolio of both single head and spray roses.

Interplant Roses are known for being the first to introduce Spray Roses to the market and indeed the globe. Presently, their wide selection of sprays includes Regular Spray Roses, Premium Spray Roses, Trendsetter Roses, Clustar Roses and Flow Roses. The breeder is constantly bringing forth exciting introductions of sprays to aptly satisfy the floristry world.
Their assortment of standard roses is extensive as it is impressive; comprising of market winners as well as promising novelties. The breeder is constantly creating and tesing new single head varieties. The standard rose collection encompasses 4 distinctive rose assortments: These are Hybrid Tea Roses, Intermediate Hybrid Tea Roses, Sweetheart Roses and Garden Shaped / Classic Roses.

Recently at their test facility and showhouse located in Naivasha Kenya, Interplant were engaged in an ongoing final selection exercise for their new spray roses. The roses consisted of an extensive assortment of 2016 and 2017 numbers. Several top Kenyan rose growers from different regions visited the facility and had a chance to check out the varieties as well as share their thoughts on Interplant’s breeding philosophy.

Several pertinent matters were discussed during the interactions; with the breeder emphasizing the importance of good harvest timing and cut-stage management to get the best out of the spray roses. Growers are welcome to sample and select some of the spray rose varieties for trials as they gradually approach commercial status.
