The 130th rose parade presented by Honda was held on 1st January 2019 at Pasadena California based on the theme "The Melody of Life. The parade covered more than five miles down Colorado Boulevard. Every year visitors experience the magnificent beauty of floral floats alongside marching bands and high stepping equestrian units. The Rose Parade is one the most beautiful ways to celebrate the New Year.
Charles Frederick Holder and Francis Rowland are the founders of Pasadena Tournament of Roses Association; a non-profit organization that has annually produced the New Year's Day Rose Parade since 1890 and the Rose Bowl since 1902. The event is held annually on New Year's Day (or on Monday, January 2 if New Year's Day falls on a Sunday).
Valley Hunt club in Pasadena desired to celebrate the abundance of flowers and promote the city's beautiful weather and charm by adding the flower parade where entrants decorate carriages with thousands of colorful flower blooms before the competitions.
The parade floats have come a long way from the initial ones, now built by professional and state of art technology that takes nearly a year to construct. Every inch of each float is covered with flowers or other natural materials, such as leaves, seeds or bark.
The Tournament of Roses announced an official award for 24 floats in different categories. The UPS Store, Inc. received the 2019 Sweepstakes Trophy for the most beautiful entry, wonderful floral presentation, amazing float design, and entertainment. The UPS Store Inc. won the 2019 Rose Parade Sweepstakes trophy “Books Keep Us On Our Toes”
