F. Optimal Connection Market Review Week 46
'The flower market is under pressure', this is according to Ishai Sharon, head of roses at floriculture logistics company Flower Optimal Connection. He points this out as the reason why numeorus activities and ideas have been seen in the recent past in search of ways to get through this difficult period.
"The market was not good during the previous weeks, especially compared to the same period last year when prices were an average 10% lower. Quantity of roses on the clock was not high. However at other platforms such as web shops and direct sales, the quantity was very high." Ishai.

On Friday 16th November 2018, prices dropped dramatically. Ishai explains that the reason for this was that the roads in France were blocked by trucks because of a strike, and almost zero supply was directed to this big market.
“Let’s see if on Monday the prices will improve. The weather in Europe is getting colder, around zero degrees and the green weeks are getting close. We hope that there will be demand for at least one more week."
From Kenya, the supply is going down especially for red roses. This Ishai says is due to planning for Christmas and Valentine’s Day. Supply from Ethiopia is also lower because of the cold season.
“Let’s hope that with smaller quantities the market will remain stable until Christmas sales,” Ishai concludes.
