Workshops in Flower Art Museum

The new Flower Art Museum in Aalsmeer is organizing two workshops in August. Children can get started with the 'floral alphabet' and for adults there is the botanical drawing workshop.
 

The Flower Art Museum is now open for a month. It is located in the former water cellar of Aalsmeer (opposite the water tower), formerly the location of Galerie Sous-Terre. The museum is open from Friday to Sunday and shows contemporary art in which flowers and plants are central. The variety is large, there are various exhibitions including paintings, photography, sculptures and jewelery.

The museum also has a coffee corner and a shop with gift items. In addition to the exhibitions, regular activities take place. In August, the first workshops are on the program. These are supervised by the experienced art teacher Annefie van Itterzon. She has worked for KCA in the past and teaches at, among others, the Werkschuit and the Volksuniversiteit Amstelveen.

Floral Alphabet
Saturday, August 18, there is a holiday workshop 'flower alphabet' for children aged 6 - 12 years. In this workshop you learn to draw letters with the special brushpen. You first practice on ornate ribbon letters that you decorate with flower and plant motifs and color. This is how you design your own Flower Alphabet. You also work with real summer flowers from the field.

The workshop is 18 August from 10.30 - 12.30. Price is € 12.50 incl. Material and drinks. Botanical drawing On Saturday 25 August there will be a 'botanical drawing' workshop for adults. Botanical drawing has been in the spotlight for centuries and attracts an ever-growing audience. In this workshop you will learn a lot about the shapes and structure of plants and flowers. Colorful botanical illustrations emerge from preliminary studies in pen and ink. By means of specific assignments and many historical illustrations you will become acquainted with this special art form.

You will discover the wonderful beauty of the bird of paradise flower and the clematis. Before you get started, you can look at some of the artworks in the museum for inspiration. This workshop is for people with some drawing and / or painting experience.

The workshop is 25 August from 10.30 - 14.30 hours. Price is € 50.00 incl. Lunch, equipment and coffee / tea (museum friends pay € 42.50). There is a maximum of 8 participants for this workshop.
