Scheme owners meeting- Towards improved Environmental Practice
During the IFTEX week in Kenya, the Kenya Flower Council hosted an afternoon workshop for scheme owners representatives, all members of FSI.

Just before the busy IFTEX fair started, we made use of this unique opportunity to present and discuss the approach on improving Environmental Practices. The meeting proved to be a lively exchange of knowledge and a great opportunity for all the participants to share their vision on the FSI approach, the FSI basket and to agree on the next steps to include a new environmental dimension.
The key points to consider for the development of a standardized agrochemical record-keeping were also discussed to ensure that the sector moves forward towards a more sustainable but also transparent floriculture chain. With so much knowledge in the room and the willingness to discuss openly, participants shared their expertise including the development of an environmental impact indicator to pro-actively address demands of the market in terms of sustainability.
