Floral boat design for Kingsday with Dorien Roling and Dennis Kneepkens

Every year on the 27th of April The Netherlands celebrates their monarchy by hosting Kingsday. During the day the Dutch dress up in the national orange colour and party in the streets. But it isn't only the inhabitants celebrating. This year a group of Japanese students lead by floral designers Dorien Roling and Dennis Kneepkens took Holland by storm.

Although being born with the Dutch nationality, Dorien Roling has lived in the land of the rising sun for years. Running her own flower school Dorien Flower Design, the master florist regularly arranges trips to her home country for her students. This time she asked international floral and interior designer Dennis Kneepkens to take the lead.

With The Netherlands being known for its canals, Dennis Kneepkens and Dorien Roling decided on a workshop floral boat decoration for this year's trip. The flowers were chosen symbolically with Antirrhinum being the Dutch lion, the national colour through Princess Roses rosa Garden Spirit and national fruit Citrus Fortunella from Kwekerij Jongerling. And one of Dennis Kneepkens favourites: Montana lisianthus Alissa Green
