Feelings! by Hanneke Frankema & Max Van de Sluis at Fleur Amour 2016
The theme for the 2016 edition of FleurAmour Passion for Flowers flower design event was centered around the four elements of earth, water, air and fire. The event now on its 21st edition was as tradition held at the Commandery of Alden Biesen and featured an impressive display of amazing and inspiring decorations.
Floral designers Hanneke Frankema & Max Van de Sluis created a floral arrangement called 'Feelings'.

Trying to create a full experience, due to the major location on the event. The most important thing of the concept is to show the full body, movement , colour and simply the nature of the flowers. The experience will get a boost thanks to lounge in the middle of the design.
Water is life and is represented in this design by the water in tubes, this in contrast with the colourfulness of the flowers which represent the element of fire. The element air is incorporated by the massive transparancy of the design.
The use of glass tubes to hold the water to incorporate that element and create transparancy, What is more the use of nylon wire to keep the transparancy and strength of the design. We used trusses as base of the design to keep it in the timespirit and the flowers are carefully selected to make sure they are in harmony with the colours of the castle. Step by step making of Feelings by Hanneke & Max
Below you can see in step how this project came to life
In total 5000 tubes and 15,000 Ti-wraps were uses and attached to kilometers of nylon wire! The total weight of the decoration was carfully measured (tubes, water, flowers, ti-wrap). Totally weight 1300 Kilo.
In total 12,000 flowers were used.
55 spheres from Oases were used in three sizes
The total construction was 10 meter in diameter 8 meters high.
First circular trusses were arranged on the floor and in the air. Next nylon wires were fixed between these 2 trusses and afterwards glass tubes were fixed to these wires. At last flowers were arranged in the glass tubes.
