"Chrysanthemums on fire" by Peter van der sluis at Fleur Amour 2016
The theme for the 2016 edition of FleurAmour Passion for Flowers flower design event was centered around the four elements of earth, water, air and fire. The event now on its 21st edition was as tradition held at the Commandery of Alden Biesen and featured an impressive display of amazing and inspiring decorations.
Tasked with making the arrangement on the long table at Fleur Amour was floral designer Peter van der sluis in a project he called 'Chrysanthemums on fire'. He was assisted by Ton van Jaarsveld.

In this project are chrysant the central flower and they give us the diversity of colours. On a 12 meter long table is one big arrangement with chrysants “on fire”. The base of the table is covered in charcoal, from which the flowers are coming up. Givin the feeling of a table which is on fire. The chrysants are arranged in in different designs and sculptures.

The element Fire is obviously used on the large table and is combined with the element air which is presented by designs of white chrysants on the walls of the room.

Chrysants thanks to the sponsor: dummen. Inbetween these chrysants I used a lot of natural materials like charcoal and black cosmos. Moreover, there are some rozebottles used inbetween the chrysants to get the wright diversity.

The good atmosphere, the nice project, and designing for Dümmen.

Step by Step making of FIRE by Peter Van der Sluis
At first we covered the big table which was not removeable was in canvas reffering to the canvas which is used in the old paintings in the room of the castle. Up next it was necessary to think about product selecting and timing. After the canvas the sculptures of chrysant where made and a big base of Oasis was formed on the the table in which afterwards flowers would be arrangemed in a natural way, making it seem like a flowerfield.
