"Firedrops" by Lucinda van der Ploeg at Fleur Amour 2016
The theme for the 2016 edition of FleurAmour Passion for Flowers flower design event was centered around the four elements of earth, water, air and fire. The event now on its 21st edition was as tradition held at the Commandery of Alden Biesen and featured an impressive display of amazing and inspiring decorations.
Floral designer Lucinda van der Ploeg created an elaborate floral arrangement called Firedrops at the event.

Video from making of "Firedrops"
First two times at fleuramour I made an experience to walk through and underneath but this time on a bridge it was less possible so I wanted to create another experience. That is an experience of heat which is quite different from the previous ones.

I incorporated Fire and Water, by creating Firedrops using the shape and colours of the flame of a candellight

I used turbo-concrete to make it heavy because its on a small edge and outside. What is more, it’s adjustable so I can create my own shapes and sizes.
I used plastic garbage bags and a heatgun to let the plastic melt. Because of the melting, there is a moving line in the plastic.

Step by Step making of Firedrops by Lucinda Van der Ploeg
Because I love to work here, it’s my third time here. I can see everybody again, it’s nice to feel the coziness and happy feeling in a wonderful environment wit hall the other designers around.

I made a decision to incorporate just 2 elements which are fire and water. I had to make something on the bridge, In which rhythym and repeating is the force of the work. I decided to make 30 "Firedrops".
