Results designer Laura Leong day Two of the Europa Cup 2016 in Genoa
It was a special second day of the 2016 European Florist Championship in Genoa, with an exciting finale on stage in the spectacular "Auditorium"!
All competitors had to complete three tasks. “PIANTE E FASHION DI UN DESIGNER ITALIANO”, “AMORE E LUSSURIA” (LOVE & LUST), and “PRIMAVERA A SORPRESA” (Spring Surprise)
After which it was the task of the Jury to judge all the works while the audience was treated to an amazing floral demonstration by Dani Santamaria & Natalia Zizko as well as a ‘Flower, fashion and food' reception show by Pim van den Akker to round off the day.

Day 2: TASK NO. 4: “PIANTE E FASHION DI UN DESIGNER ITALIANO…”
Kind of work: A plant composition for a window display of an haute-couture Italian designer for men’s fashion of the competitor’s choice.
Description: This work piece should represent the illustrious high-end brand of an haut-couture Italian designer for men’s fashion of the competitor’s choice.
Requirements: Competitors must use exactly 10 plant varieties in the design to fulfill the task.
Shape/size: The shape is free. The arrangement must not exceed a ground space of 150cmx150cm and a height of 250cm.
Technique: Free. The design is expected to last 1 month.
It has been inspired by the the colours and forms featured in the work of this fashion brand.
The most iconic woven textile brand in Italy.
All competitors were given a list of plants to choose from WaterDrinke. I chose quite sculptural plants to fit with the famous form used by the designer.
The colours chosen are also key to expressing the idea.

Day 2: TASK NO. 5: “AMORE E LUSSURIA” - "LOVE & LUST"
Theme: Amore e Lussuria (Love and Lust)
Kind of work: Handtied bouquet with 1 binding point
Description: This work piece should reflect the emotions of an enthralling Italian man.
Requirements: Competitors must use 60 stems of roses in the design. 1 person alone should be able to transport the bouquet. Competitors will be able to choose a maximum of 5 rose varieties beforehand.
Shape/size: The shape is free.
The form of the bouquet expresses the idea of passion, the colours are part of this expression/
I chose Flash Eye, Naomi, Blueberry and Darcy for their variety of form and for expression of colour.
Assuming the sender is “the enthralling Italian man” it would say
“the flames of Italian passion burn for you”

Not everybody will be able to travel to Genoa for the Europa Cup 2016.

You can support your favourite competitor by taking a picture and uploading it in the app.
Your picture and personal message will be displayed in a slideshow on 4 large screens during the Europa Cup.
The picture can be a selfie, a group photo or something funny... You are welcome to wear something flowery and colourful or in the colours of the competitor's country.
Whether at home or present at the event, the selfie app works quite easily: you can use your computer, iPad or smartphone to upload a picture plus a little text. This will then be uploaded automatically on a big screen at the event, so all competitors can see their friends, family and fans supporting them.

From the moment the first task has been completed, people both outside and present at the event will be able to VOTE for their favourite arrangements. Although you are not allowed to vote for the competitor from your own country, you can let us know whose work you liked most for each task.
You will be able to check out all the step by step articles on Flowerweb to compare the competitors and hear the stories behind their creations.
Voting will be open until Sunday (10 April) 11:30. The competitor with the most Votes in the end, will win the "People’s Choice Award by Smithers-Oasis "
