It was a special second day of the 2016 European Florist Championship in Genoa, with an exciting finale on stage in the spectacular "Auditorium"!
All competitors had to complete three tasks. “PIANTE E FASHION DI UN DESIGNER ITALIANO”, “AMORE E LUSSURIA” (LOVE & LUST), and “PRIMAVERA A SORPRESA” (Spring Surprise)
After which it was the task of the Jury to judge all the works while the audience was treated to an amazing floral demonstration by Dani Santamaria & Natalia Zizko as well as a ‘Flower, fashion and food' reception show by Pim van den Akker to round off the day.

Below you can see the results from Roman Steinhauer from Russia. On our Europa Cup 2016 event page you can also see all the floral designs of the other competitors.
Day 2: TASK NO. 4: “PIANTE E FASHION DI UN DESIGNER ITALIANO…”
Kind of work: A plant composition for a window display of an haute-couture Italian designer for men’s fashion of the competitor’s choice.
Description: This work piece should represent the illustrious high-end brand of an haut-couture Italian designer for men’s fashion of the competitor’s choice.
Requirements: Competitors must use exactly 10 plant varieties in the design to fulfill the task.
Shape/size: The shape is free. The arrangement must not exceed a ground space of 150cmx150cm and a height of 250cm.
Technique: Free. The design is expected to last 1 month.
I used contrast of rough and cheap material and expensive golden metal. The contrast of cheap and expensive and color contrast – black and golden.
Versace Fashion House is my inspiration with its extravagant collections and shows of different years. I used one collection as a basis of my design.
I used rubber as one of main materials – car tires. It’s a men’s design so material is rough and simple. I want to show that using cheap, simple and recycled materials we can create some interesting piece that will look worthy. Here I wanted to involve ecology subject because recycling is actual now. So it’s a sort of appeal to support this subject. I used tender orchids as a contrast with rough rubber and metal.

Day 2: TASK NO. 5: “AMORE E LUSSURIA” - "LOVE & LUST"
Theme: Amore e Lussuria (Love and Lust)
Kind of work: Handtied bouquet with 1 binding point
Description: This work piece should reflect the emotions of an enthralling Italian man.
Requirements: Competitors must use 60 stems of roses in the design. 1 person alone should be able to transport the bouquet. Competitors will be able to choose a maximum of 5 rose varieties beforehand.
Shape/size: The shape is free.
Of course it’s color. Love and Lust means bright emotions, feelings, rich color combinations. These are many-sided feelings, it’s tenderness and romance, purity and mystique, maybe aggression. I showed this contrast in my bouquet. Along with visual perception I wanted to involve tactile sensation, a wish to touch, it surely helps to develop a theme.
I chose three rose varieties - Red Eye, Green Eye, Flash Eye – they are quite extravagant, many-sided and interesting. They are complicated like love and different for everyone. It’s simple and clear for someone. For another person it’s mystique and unknown.
For woman that conquered men all over the world and could differ love from lust.
