Proflora Scholarships - Cultivating the Future
The Proflora Scholarship 2015 is a key part of the Asocolflores Cultivating the Future program designed to foster lasting enrollment in higher education amongst the children of Colombian flower workers. Scholarship applicants must fill 4 basic requirements:
• Be the child of an Asocolflores affiliated flower-farm employee
• Hold a high school diploma
• Have been accepted to a well-established university
• Have scored high on the ICFES test
12 applicants from the Departments of Cundinamarca and Antioquia applied and went through the final selection process spearheaded by the Lumni Foundation. In 2016, Bancolombia’s Dreams of Peace program will then step in to hand over four 1-semester scholarships and allowances to the following students:
- Mary Luz Castro, Education at Antioquia University - from Calla Farms
- Emanuel Augusto León, Biology at Universidad Nacional - from GR Chía farm
- Juan Diego Leon, Civil Engineering at Nacional University - from GR Chía farm
- Braihan Castañeda, Dance Instruction at Antioquia University - from C.I. Flores Carmel farm
