Colombian flowers for the English market

Colombian Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, ProColombia and the Colombian Association of Flower Exporters; Asocolflores, on 2nd and 3rd September 3rd offered a sample of Colombian flowers to 12 companies Cundinamarca and Antioquia during a ceremony held at the Intercontinental Hotel in London. According to Dane, the comparison of Colombian flower exports to the UK market between January and June 2014 and 2015, showed an increase of 4.9% from USD29.5 million to USD30.9 million, consolidating this market as the second destination of the national flowers.
England together with Canada experienced during the same period increased sales by 15.3%, from 20.0 million to USD 23.1 million, are best indications seen this year in Colombian floriculture pitting it at first line of non-traditional agricultural exports from Colombia.
"The English have appreciated the diversity and quality of Colombian flowers, and additionally, as consumers value the significant progress in sustainable production leads from ASOCOLFLORES Colombian floriculture," said union president, Augusto Solano.
The national flower shows in London will be complemented with product demonstrations by renowned English florist Judith Blacklock.
