Colombian Flowers at Milan Expo 2015

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, ProColombia and the Colombian Association of Flower Exporters, Asocolflores, coordinated the agenda of five Colombian exporters, who attended more than 50 meetings with 10 flowers buyers from Spain, France and Italy. Colombia Pavilion at Expo 2015 Milan, dedicated to exalt the diversity offered by the five climatic zones of Colombia, was ideal in promoting varieties of roses and carnations grown in the country, taking advantage of the facilities offered by the Agreement Trade with the European Union.
After doing an experiential tour of the Pavilion Colombia, who have already visited more than one million people since last May 1, buyers met representatives of Agricultural Circassia, Aurora Flores, Matina Flowers, Turflor and PQR; five growers with more than 20 years of experience in the market of roses and carnations with two varieties for which the country has been recognized and rewarded in the world.
With 50 years of exporting experience, Colombia is the second largest flower exporter in the world after the Netherlands. Roses, carnations, chrysanthemums, orchids and Colombia astromelias reach at least 90 countries each week. Floriculture represents 2.5% of non-traditional exports and in 2014 totaled USD1.374 million.
