For those who have never set foot at the annual Naivasha Horticultural Fair, it would be good to realize that the fair is intelligently geared towards empowering the African horticultural farmer. That is why a generous percentage of the exhibitors are suppliers of products and services to the industry.

In the 'floricultural' scope, the show is an opportune avenue for flower breeders to make new product introductions as well as showcase their well known classics. These are some of the well known commercial roses that rose breeder De Ruiter East Africa displayed at their stand as well as at their showhouse. We chose these four varieties mainly targeted at East African growers seeking to make exploits at direct retail markets.

Firecatcher is a good retail and wholesale sale bi-yellow with a production of average 130 at the Naivasha altitude. The rose has a headsize 5cm average and stemlength of above 50cm.

Attractive pink colour, long stem, good bud height, and a good producer. The stem grows 70-100cm and bud between 50-55cm. Rose growers would be pleased to know that Wham® is a good producer with an average production range of 140-160 in the Naivasha altitude.

Sonrisa is a good producer with an attractive and strong yellow color. The rose grows a decently sized flower head and a grower will get stemlengths of average 40-50cm and above

Very Cherry

Very Cherry spots a good Cerise colour that would be a charmer not only for direct market but also for auction. The rose is a good producer with an average 180 and average stemlength of 50cm.
