Schreurs East Africa at IFTEX 2015
Schreurs East Africa sat at stand B2.01 during this year's IFTEX 2015. During the show Schreurs showcased a good number of their new rose varieties and well known commercial roses. Speaking to Flowerweb.com, Schreurs East Africa managing director Haiko Backer pointed out that the 4th edition of IFTEX was a clear reflection of the current mood in the Kenyan floriculture industry.

Haiko noted that there were not enough international buyers as expected and that the organisers should look into ways of attracting more international buyers in future editions of the expo. He added that the various varieties being displayed at the expo were of excellent standard, which was also an indication of better quality by breeders and growers.

Most of the visitors at the Schreurs stand showed a lot of interest in hot colors and different head sizes.
A good number of East African rose growers have expressed their interest in the variety Red Naomi!® which is currently under trial at various farms across Kenya. Red Naomi!® has an attractive red color and grows a large head. The rose also has good production, a long stem and is generally a good grower. Expectations are high as everyone is eager to see how the Red Naomi!® grown in Africa positions itself in the rather competitive market.

Apart from Red Naomi!, other Schreurs rose varieties showcased included Shangrila!®, Rico!®, Dutch Beauty!®, Memory Lane!®, Double Date!®, Heidi!®, Downtown!®, Tanzanite!® Glow!®, Countdown!®, among others. Schreurs East Africa is located inside the vast Flower Business Park along the Naivasha - Nakuru highway.
