Fleurop - Interflora World Cup Berlin - Day 1 Pirjo Koppi
It was an exiting first day of Fleurop Interflora World Cup competition. All competitors had to do two tasks. Starting of with a surprize item in the morning and in the afternoon the first task the competitors had prepared beforehand. Titled, ‘100% Personal’.
Flowerweb and it team was right there and worked with the organisation to make sure we not only show you the end results but also the story behind the creations and techniques used told by the competitors themselves.
Below you can see the results from competitor Pirjo Koppi from Finland
On our Fleurop - Interflora event page you can see the floral designs from the other competitors.

100% Dianthus
All contestants were given a surprise assignment which was called "100% Dianthus". They had 4 hours preperation time and 90 minutes time to actually finish the assigment with flowers.
The main ingredients of this assigment:
All competitors recieved the same metal construction.
All competitors were free to use as many of the provided materials as they want.
The main focus in the overall design should be on Dianthus flowers.
I'm really happy the challenge had to be done with carnations. Simply because carnations come in many sizes, colours and varieties. This gave me the freedom to express how beautiful carnations are.

Day 1: First competition task: 100% personal
The first World Cup task is all about the personality of the finalists. Free of the compulsion to observe rules or conventions, the individual work pieces should reflect the different facets of their characters.

My design reflects my character in a perfect way. The shell is tough and shows signs of life’s touch, but is yet delicate and even fragile. Full of joy and life. My design shows you exactly what kind of person I am: joyous, frolicsome, rambling, humorous, goofy and rakish.

I’ve used various techniques in my design, such as water tube technique and foam technique. The development for the idea began in January. When the idea was ready, the work for the final design started, with its technical solutions and floral solutions. The design took five months of work from idea to the final product.
Työssä on käytetty erilaisia tekniikoita kuten suppilotekniikkaa ja sienitekniikkaa. Idean kehittely alkoi tammikuussa. Kun idea oli valmis alkoi työn rakentaminen teknisine ratkaisuineen ja kukkamaailmoineen. Ideasta lopputulokseen työtä on valmistettu viisi kuukautta.

Freedom for me means independence in a free country with freedom of speech for everyone. I have had the freedom to choose a profession I was interested in and get an education for it. I am free to work as an entrepreneur in a profession I love, a Master Florist.
Vapaus tarkoittaa minulle itsenäisyyttä vapaassa maassa, jossa vallitsee sananvapaus. Olen voinut valita vapaasti minua kiinnostavan ammattialan, saanut siihen koulutuksen ja voin olla yrittäjänä rakastamassani ammatissani floristimestarina.
