Spring is here; a time when we all deserve a bright floral break. There are quite a number of new rose varieties from Kenyan rose growers that stand out as great market introductions, especially during this Spring Season. These slides below show some of these trade novelties by different breeders and growers. The selection shows an attractive variation in colour, alongside other characteristics that florists and traders will find appealing.

AAA roses' Simba Farm located at an altitude of 1995m in Nyahururu Kenya has been growing Morning Dew!® for the third year now. According to Dana, the company's commercial manager, the rose is a strong grower with good production. Dana notes Morning Dew to be a versatile variety with good acceptance accross a variety of markets board e.g. Australia, UK, Middle East and in Scandinavian countries. <

"At the begining, mainly because of its unique colour , most people thought Morning Dew! would be a niche variety, but over time it has gained popularity across the board." It is because of its flexible nature that AAA has started putting Morning Dew! in a bouquet line, mixing it with spray roses. Although it doesnt grow a very long stem, averaging 40-50 at AAA's Simba Farm, the rose has a decent headsize of 4

Pink Rhodos, Whitewash and Ever Red from De Ruiter East Africa

New Moon, Grace Kelly and Revolution from Olij Roses



Traders and florists will find this new T-hybrid rose appealing mostly because of its vibrant yellow colour. New Moon is a healthy grower and versatile too since it does well at both low and high altitude farms.

Grace Kelly is a cerice pink T-hybrid by Olij roses, that can work well in bouquets and other arrangements.

Revolution has a catchy red colour and very good stemlength. The rose which was recently introduced by Olij Roses has been identified by trade as one of the most promising red varities from Africa.
