Kenya's Nakuru County passes finance Act setting cess on flowers
Nakuru County in Kenya, where the globally known Naivasha flower growing zone lies, has passed its finance Act setting cess on flowers at 0.2 shillings per kilo exported as negotiated with the country's floriculture industry.

This agreement has been formalized through a gazette notice. This is a good progress on produce cess as the modality of payment is still being worked on. Nakuru County will then coordinate with the Ministry of Agriculture to release the Kshs 0.30 currently being paid to HCD.
The Kenya Flower Council commended the County Government of Nakuru for agreeing to work and supporting the Kenyan Flower Industry. KFC will be encouraging other flower growing counties to follow suit for order, harmony and consistency at the national level.
