Reduction of energy costs on flower farms in Kenya

Invitation to conference and individual meetings with solution providers
The German Chamber of Commerce has organized the East African-German Conference on Energy Efficiency, on 24th November 2014 at the Southern Sun Mayfair Hotel/ Nairobi.
The workshop will be held in the context of a German Energy Efficiency Business Delegation Trip to Kenya, which will takes place under the ‘Energy Efficiency – Made in Germany’ initiative of the German Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs and Energy. The companies come to discuss the potential and economic viability of energy efficient solutions with local stakeholders.
Generally, energy efficiency helps to improve the overall productivity and, thus, to improve competitiveness. In most industries tremendous energy savings can be achieved through more energy efficient cross-cutting technologies (e.g. electrical drives, pumps, compressors, refrigeration systems, boiler systems, heat recovery, etc.) and more efficient process technologies. Energy audits in Kenyan companies have shown that 30 – 40% of overall energy costs can be saved, e.g. flower farms can save up to 50%. Especially in consideration of the high power tariffs, many investments in energy saving measures are paid back within 2 – 4 years. Finally, especially process-specific energy efficient technologies usually go along also with higher production efficiency.
During the workshop representatives of the government will give an overview of the regulatory framework such as the Energy Management Regulations. Moreover, project experience from Kenya will be presented and German experts/companies will give information about international good practices and available technological solutions. Finally, an overview of available finance will be given.
Besides the workshop, the German experts and companies will visit individual potential clients and business partners. For the registration form kindly contact [email protected]
