"Secret garden of Marie Antoinette" by Timo Bolte
Floral designer Timo Bolte loves to walk around the gardens of Schönbrunn and imagine how Marie Antoinette would have felt.
The enormous vase sculptures close to the round Pools in Schönbrunn gardens are impressive. Timo has the dream to once be allowed to "fill" the vases with flowers.
So when he was offered the chance to decorate one of the room at the Alden Biesen castle during Fleuramour 2014, he knew what he wanted to make.
He wanted the visitors of Fleuramour to be able to walk around and feel like Marie Antoinette (queen of France). And we think he succeeded! He created a feeling like walking around through the historical paths and alleys.
Armed with beautiful roses from Vip roses he started his job.

Step by Step of "Secret garden of Marie Antoinette"
Timo made a picture of one of the enourmous vases in the and printed copies. Though realsize they would even fit in the room, even scaled they are an impressive sight.
He create an easy structure to hang the printed banner and used Smithers Oasis garlands.... to create the basis for the flowers. To make it more stabile he fixed it with bamboo sticks.
Hundrets of different Avalanche varias are waiting to be used.

One of his favourites beeing special rose "Houdini". This rose has a gorgeous natural "defect" where the stem grows through the hart of the flowerbud. and at some months during the even create multiple small new rosebuds withing the large rose bud. They are exclusively available from VIP

Lastly he used Avalanche Pastelmix. In our business the right mix is essential. With Avalanche pastel mix by Viproses, it`s all in the mix.
Timo was able to use the different colors to finish the design
The romantic flowering roses are stuck in the Oasis on the outside of the prints.
The basic idea in this case has come more from a cultural and design inspiration rather than from a technique.
Soft creamish and white colours with orange tones: the colour combination in this arrangement is pretty unusual. Yet nonetheless, or perhaps preciesly because of this unusual combination a feeling of opulence and plenty is created and the decorative centre also is established as the focal point- like a traffic light.
If a large room instalation is made of several individual elements, the advantage is that it can be transformed again and again. There are different levels to this instalation that measures a total of 3 metres, and the flowers and living materials have been worked in for a maximum voluptuousness, creating a kind of lively biodiversity.

Timo was also asked to do a floral design demonstration at Fleuramour. He spend three day prerparing all the structures by hand from materials available at the Castle.

Skewering onto Rods
Interesting layering effects can be created from leaves in this form of dense layering.
Here 18 gauge wires were sharpened and driven into a board in order to create a horizontal flat picture.
Starting from the dry brown leaves from the last summer season ending in some fresher yellow onces just piced up from the trees still with the last energy and life inside. This structure builds the bridge between the seasons. The last flowers of summer, the autumn colours of gold and the dry died parts of the winter.
During one the the stage performances Timo finished this arrangement with some fresh materials. Inbetween the layed leaves he places some tubes, which are even covered with leaves and golden wire. In these tubes the fresh floral materials have water and can be changed.
Some Vanda blossoms, orange Gloriosa rothschildiana, yellow "Houdini", Rose hips and seed from the summer are placed inbetween the leaves.
Placed in front of the castle it is perfectly fitting in the surrounding of leaving summer, like a proposal for a nice warm evening at home like a dinner with friends.

Not only storm, rain and coloured leaves, but the rough textures of lichen too define the beauty of autumn and contibute to the melancholic atmosphere.
In a small Art Deco vase, which Timo found on a flear marked in Vienna he created a small fan.
Some black berries, Savlia leaves, Clematis blossoms, and Ceropegia tendrils are places in small tubes, which are even covered with Lichen. This dark colours esteem a mysthic feeling in this colourful season.

An object with many lines, using simple floral items. A quickly made frame of salix wood provides the necessary support. With a little experience, highly effective statics can be produced with only limited resources.
This extremely delicate and seemingly daring object of dry twigs is presented on a glass cube for extremely transparancy. But appearances are deceptive: everything is held firmly together by thin vine wire, which even in close-ip remains almost invisible.
Extreme reduction of aesthetic attraction for a modern interior.
This constructure makes phalaenopsis orchid flowers and calla blossoms positively appear to float in the air. The upper flowers optain their water from covered tubes. The conspicuous lightness and the various water reservoirs give this otherwise very much reduced object its particular charm.

A small ball of Smithers Oasis is shaped in the form of a small cup.
Hundrets of small pumkin seed are single fixed with a glue gun.
After hours of work this simple form is finished and can be added with some small fresh flowers, which recieve their water from little glass tubes, hidden inbetween the seeds.
A small arrangement able to use the whole year by using different seasonal flowers.

Creating something unusual, fierly-loud. Searching out those red tones: blossoms, fruit, leave, tendrils. A basement made of moss and cornus is covered with fruits like little apples, Viburnum, Calicarpa and rose hips.
Allowing colour to work to full effect- emotional red. Arranging a ruel centerpiece in gathering together the central European autumn with exotic guests.
Grouping symmetrical floral arrangements in an assymetrical arrangement.
Using what the end of summer has on offer, to the exent possible. Demsonstrating abundance in a full and compact manner.
Some red Cornus sibirica are cross-knotted and are dancing on the arrangemet, connecting the different forms and colours to a total. The rest of summer come together to celebrate the beauty of changing season.

Understanding and using form and colour as a design medium.
Developing something delicate. Achieving transparent lightness.
A colourful dance of fruit and parts of plants swings through the air in a wide extravagant circle.
Little berries and tiny fruits are threated onto copper wire that has been aged with hydrochloric acid and woven tightly into the fan at the top and fixed into place.

Charming contrast of fresh plant material and dry floral material
Tubes are covered with apple leaves to supply the fresh plant materials with water.
Shades of grey and green are the leading colours of this arrangement for a rustic surrounding. The rough textures and structures of lichen define the atmosphere.
Develop a basket form with floral plant material- in this way with apple branches. Proportions directed upward. Fixed together with paper covered wire its hard to find the small techniqual details..
Different flowers of the country side come together in this basket. Apples in all varias, branches, leaves, fruits; differents sizes of apples. All of an natural surrounding like walking throug a meadow.
