"Circles of Life" by Robin Van Nuffelen
During Fleuramour 2014 in Alden Biesen the floral designer Robin van Nuffelen was asked to create a floral design work in the dungeon of the Castle.
Robin was asked to work with beautiful Hydrangeas from Vollering C.V. .
Robin just loves the fact the Hydrangeas will change colour over time and decided to something with that. Therefore he named his project "Circles of life"
The first step was to create the structures. They made asymmetric wreaths and used over 300 blocks of Smithers Oasis floral foam. In between the slabs he used Water-resistant wood so that the water from the Oasis would not run down.
After the structures were setup they could get started with the flowers. The hydrangeas were carefully sorted by colour (age) and they started putting them in the oasis from inside out, light to dark (young to old) to create a gorgeous color gradient!
