The Kenya Flower Council (KFC) in collaboration with Workers Rights Watch will hold a consultative workshop on April 8, 2014 at Methodist Guest House Nairobi to discuss the communication strategy baseline survey findings under the National Mechanism for industry-wide Compliance (NMC) project and also develop guidelines to deal with sexual harassment in flower farms.
NMC is spearheaded by KFC to support the Kenya Flower Industry in assuring sustained access to international markets, by developing and implementing a national system for industry-wide compliance with the existing regulatory framework for sustainable production. One man component of this project is development of an effective communication strategy with policy guidelines and implementation plans nationally and internationally.
Workers right watch on the other hand, is an association which aims at ensuring that workers leaders at the shop floor and neighbourhood communities have an opportunity to consult and promote corporate citizenship and good working conditions. In addition familiarize workers with tools, skills and tactics that would enable them expand the horizon of organizing and create critical consciousness that would be required for effective workers organizing.
