Greenport Aalsmeer and Development Company HOT signed an agreement on 10 January to work together to stimulate the restructuring, modernization and sustainability of greenhouse horticulture in Greenport Aalsmeer. With this agreement Greenport Aalsmeer starts the preparation and development of business cases for specific land consolidation areas in the region. Development company HOT is responsible for implementation and financing.
After the Spatial Vision, the Implementation Agenda of Greenport Aalsmeer was adopted in 2016. One of the actions from this was conducting business explorations. A total of 789 companies were surveyed with these surveys, 326 of which were personally interviewed; accounted for 80% of the glass area. As a result, the wishes of the entrepreneurs regarding their location: stay, move, expand or stop have been mapped.
On the basis of this information, Greenport Aalsmeer, together with HOT, can work with entrepreneurs in the Aalsmeer region. In the Spatial Vision (2015-2025) of Greenport Aalsmeer, greenhouse horticulture clusters are divided into three categories. For categories 1 and 2, Greenport Aalsmeer will start developing business cases in 2018. The aim of the business cases is to develop modernized greenhouse horticulture clusters through reallotment. In 2018, HOT and the Greenport Aalsmeer have the ambition to develop three to five business cases.
Business cases for the areas Alton, Grootslag and Heemskerkerduin are also being developed in Greenport Noord-Holland Noord. Greenport Aalsmeer prepares the business cases and presents them to the Development Company HOT Netherlands for approval. After approval of the business case, HOT facilitates the execution of the business case. Upon successful completion, HOT will make the financial resources available for the realization.
